Flexible Circuit Board Repairing Keep the temperature of the soldering iron around 270C during repairing. Do not touch the soldering iron on the same conductor of the circuit board (within 3 times). Be careful not to apply force on the conductor when soldering or unsoldering. Notes on Chip Component Replacement Never reuse a disconnected chip component. Notice that the minus side of a tantalum capacitor may be damaged by heat. TABLE OF CONTENTS 1. SERVICE NOTE. 3 2. GENERAL Getting started . 4 Playing a CD .5 3. DISASSEMBLY 3-1. NE REMPLACER CES COMPOSANTS QUE PAR DES PICES SONY DONT LES NUMROS SONT DONNS DANS CE MANUEL OU DANS LES SUPPLMENTS PUBLIS PAR SONY. This Compact Disc player is classified as a CLASS 1 LASER product. The CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT table is located on the bottom exterior. Abbreviation CND : Canadian model FR: French model G: German model E13: AC 220-230V area in E model AUS : Australian model E33: AC 100-240V area in E model HK: Hong Kong model CH: Chinese model 3 chuck plate jig disc SECTION 1 SERVICE NOTE NOTES ON HANDLING THE OPTICAL PICK-UP BLOCK OR BASE UNIT The laser diode in the optical pick-up block may suffer electro- static breakdown because of the potential difference generated by the charged electrostatic load, etc. on clothing and the human body. During repair, pay attention to electrostatic breakdown and also use the procedure in the printed matter which is included in the repair parts. The flexible board is easily damaged and should be handled with care. NOTES ON LASER DIODE EMISSION CHECK The laser beam on this model is concentrated so as to be focused on the disc reflective surface by the objective lens in the optical pick-up block. Therefore, when checking the laser diode emis- sion, observe from more than 30 cm away from the objective lens. To Check the Laser Diode and Focus Search Operation Open the upper panel. Turn on the power without a disc while the main board S801 (OPEN) is ON (or TAP802 is shorted). Then, observe the objective lens and check that the following opera- tions are performed. 1.Scatterd light of laser beams is seen. 2.Check for vertical movements (five) of the objective lens (with movement of the PU on the inner circumference). CHUCK PLATE JIG ON REPAIRING On repairing CD section, playing a disc without the upper panel section, use Chuck Plate Jig. Part No. of Chuck Plate Jig: 4-221-965-01 S801 (OPEN) S801 TAP802 main board (side A) Before Replacing the Optical Pick-Up Block Please be sure to check throughly the parameters as par the “Opti- cal Pick-Up Block Checking Procedures” (Part No.: 9-960-027- 11) issued separately before replacing the optical pick-up block. Note and specifications required to check are given below. FOK output : IC601 # pin When checking FOK, remove the lead wire to disc motor. When checking FOK value, remove the lead wire to disc motor. RF signal P-to-P value : 0.35 - 0.65 Vp-p The repairing grating holder is impossible. 4 SECTION 2 GENERALThis section is extracted from instruction manual. 5 6 1 screw (M2) 2 screw (M2) 3 screw 4 screw (M2) 7 shaft 6 shaft tray (P) assy 8 upper panel assy 5 2 tray (P) assy 1 screws (M1.4x6.5) 3 screw (M1.4x4.5), locking 8 screw (M1.4x3.0), locking 0 screw (M1.4x3.0), locking ! screw (M1.4x3.0), locking ! cabinet 9 screw (M1.4x4.5), locking 7 escutcheon 4 claw 5 claw 6 claw Note : Follow the disassembly procedure in the numerical order given. 3-1.
