B : Flash ROM (With software). Usually, no need for write-in of software. But, when the software was updated, you should write the new software on the microprocessor or flash ROM. Please check the software version. C : Empty Flash ROM (Without software). You should write the software on the microprocessor or flash ROM. Refer to Update procedure or writing procedure, when you write the software. PROCEDURE FOR UPGRADING THE VERSION OF THE FIRMWARE 1. How to update by DFW 1.1. Preparations before starting the operation (1) Personal Computer (Installed DFW_0048_AVR1612(Rev.1.1.1).exe. (2) RS-232 cable (9P (Male ), Straight). (3) 8U-210100 Writing Kit. 1.2. Connection of AV receiver (1) Confirm the power on/off switch of the AV receiver is turning off. (2) Connect the update terminal of AV receiver with the Writing Kit. (3) Connect the RS-232C cable from PC with the Writing Kit. PC Writing Kit RS-232C Cable 4P FFC Cable This side is contacts of flexible card cable. S709 S708 S707 S706 S702 S706-709 : No PreferenceS702 : 3.3V 38 1.3. Turn on the AV receiver Operate the following. Turn on the AV receiver. (1) Connect the power cable to the AC outlet while simultaneously pushing the NET/USB button and the INTERNET RADIO button of the front panel. (2) Confirm the power indicator is green and WRITTING is displayed in the front panel. 1.4. Run the DFW Run the DFW_0048_AVR1612(Rev.1.1.1).exe on desktop of PC. 1.5. Communication check (1) Select the serial port number of RS-232C in PC. (2) Click the Check Comm. button. (3) When connection is good, then you can see the Communication check OK. message. (4) If connection is not good, then you can see the Communication check NG message. Please confirm the following (a) Check the connection of the AV receiver and PC. (refer to 1.2. Connection of the AV receiver ) (b) Check the operation mode of the AV receiver. (refer to 1.3.Turn on the AV receiver) (c) Check the selection of the RS-232C port number of PC. 1 2 39 1.6. Download the firmware (1) Click the Load button. (2) Download the firmware from the specified download source to PC. 1.7. Complete the firmware updating (1) Click the Update button. (2) When writing of the firmware is completed, the power of AV receiver turns on automatically and you can see the Update completed message. Confirming the firmwares number after upgraded After updating the firmware, check the version. Refer to 1. com/DSP Version display mode (15 page ). 41 ADJUSTMENT Audio Section Adjusting Idling Current Required measurement equipment: DC Voltmeter 1. Preparation (1) Avoid direct blow from an air conditioner or an electric fan and humidity should be moderate, and place the set at normal usage environment. Temperature should be at 15 C 30 C (59 F 86 F). (2) Presetting POWER (Power source switch) OFF SPEAKER (Speaker terminal) No load (Do not connect speaker, dummy resistor, etc.) 2. Adjustment (1) Remove the top cover and set VR710(FL), VR750(FR), VR730(C), VR720(SL), VR740(SR), on MAIN AMP UNIT at fully counterclockwise (c) position. (2) Connect DC Voltmeter to test points (FRONT-Lch: CN710, FRONT-Rch: CN750, CENTER ch: CN730, SURROUND- Lch: CN720, SURROUND-Rch: CN740). (3) Connect the power cord to AC Line, and set the power switch to ON. (4) Presetting. MASTER VOLUME : - counterclockwise (c min.) SPEAKER (Speaker terminal) : No load (Do not connect speaker, dummy resistor, etc.) MODE : MCH STEREO FUNCTION : DVD (5) Within 2 minutes after the power on, turn VR710 clockwise (x) to adjust the TEST POINT voltage at 1.5mV 0.5mV DC. (6) After 10 minutes from the preset above, turn VR710 to set the voltage to 2.0mV 0.5mV DC. (7) Adjust the Variable Resistors of each channel(VR720-VR750) in the same way. POWER 1.1. Power not turn on YESYES YES NO NO YES NO NO 0.6V or -0.6V When the power turned on, does the ON/STANDBY indicator on the front panel flashing green? Is the fuse blown? About 10 seconds later, does the ON/STANDBY indicator on the front panel turn lighting green ? Check voltage of CN151 (1- 2PIN) of DIGITAL BD while the ON/STANDBY indicator is flashing green. Pull out connector (CN703) of MAIN BD, and check 2. Errors checking mode. (Refer to 17 page.) Power not turn on. Is the fuse blown? When the power turned on, does the ON/STANDBY indicator on the front panel flashing red? Is a DC 5V voltage being supplied from the SMPS BD (BN903) to the DIGITAL BD? Refer to 1.2.Fuse is blown. Refer to 1.2. Fuse is blown. Check circuitry and parts from CN151 on the DIGITAL BD to the -com for damage and shortcircuits, and replace any defective parts. Check 2. Errors checking mode. (Refer to 17 page.) Are there any incomplete connections in the connectors connecting between the various circuit boards? Is a DC 5V voltage output when the cord supplying the power from the SMPS BD to the DIGITAL BD (CN151) is unplugged? Check -com periphery circuitry of DIGITAL BD and replace any defective parts. Check circuitry and parts from CN151 on the DIGITAL BD to the -com power supply for damage and shortcircuits, and replace any defective parts. Connect the connectors properly. To troubleshooting 6. SMPS. (Refer to 60 page.) NO YES YES 0V YESNO NONO Check for leaks or short circuits in the primary side parts, and replace any defective parts. Fuse is blown Check for short circuits in the rectifier diodes and circuitry of the secondary side rectifying circuits, and replace any defective parts. After repairing, also replace the fuse.
