Check leakage asdescribed below.LEAKAGEThe AC leakage from any exposed metal part to earth Ground andfrom all exposed metal parts to any exposed metal part having areturn to chassis, must not exceed 0.5 mA (500 microampers).Leakage current can be measured by any one of three methods.1.A commercial leakage tester, such as the Simpson 229 or RCAWT-540A. Follow the manufacturers instructions to use theseinstruments.2.A battery-operated AC milliammeter. The Data Precision 245digital multimeter is suitable for this job.3.Measuring the voltage drop across a resistor by means of aVOM or battery-operated AC voltmeter. The “limit” indicationis 0.75 V, so analog meters must have an accurate low-voltagescale. The Simpson 250 and Sanwa SH-63Trd are examples ofa passive VOM that is suitable. Nearly all battery operateddigital multimeters that have a 2V AC range are suitable. (SeeFig. A)Fig. A. Notice that the minus side of a tantalum capacitor may be damaged by heat.Flexible Circuit Board Repairing Keep the temperature of soldering iron around 270Cduring repairing. Do not touch the soldering iron on the same conductor of the circuit board (within 3 times). Be careful not to apply force on the conductor when soldering or unsoldering. This appliance is classified as a CLASS 1 LASER product. The CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT MARKING is located on therear exterior.SECTION 1SERVICING NOTES (1)NOTES ON HANDLING THE OPTICAL PICK-UP BLOCKOR BASE UNITThe laser diode in the optical pick-up block may suffer electrostaticbreak-down because of the potential difference generated by thecharged electrostatic load, etc. on clothing and the human body.During repair, pay attention to electrostatic break-down and alsouse the procedure in the printed matter which is included in therepain parts. The flexible board is easily damaged and should be handled withcare.NOTES ON LASER DIODE EMISSION CHECKThe laser beam on this model is concentrated so as to be focused onthe disc reflective surface by the objective lens in the optical pick-up block. Therefore, when checking the laser diode emission, observe from more than 30 cm away from the objective lens. The emission check enables continuous checking of the S curve. When the bottom plate is removed, the RF board can be checked.eleven screws(BVTP3 8)RF boardbottom plate4SCD-C555ESSECTION 2GENERALThis section is extractedfrom instruction manual.9 EX-CHANGE button (18)Press to replace discs while playing a disc.0 CHECK button (23)Press to check the programmed order.qa lAMSL dial (AMS: Automatic Music Sensor)(7, 14)When you turn the lAMSL dialcounterclockwise by one click, you go back to thepreceding track; when you turn the lAMSL dialclockwise by one click, you go to the succeeding track.qs CLEAR button (23)Press to delete a programmed track number.qd DISC SKIP button (14)Press to select the disc.qf PHONES LEVEL controlAdjust the headphones volume.qg PHONES jackConnect the headphones.During playback of a Multi-channel Super Audio CD,the same signal that is output from the ANALOG5.1CH FRONT L/R jacks is output from the PHONESjack.POWERPHONESLEVELMINMAXA SPUSH ENTERSA DMULT/2CHCHECKCLEARDSC SKIPEX CHANGEDSC 1CONTINUEDISC 2SHUFFLEDISC 3PROGRAMDSC 4MENUDISC 5TME/TEXTOPENCLOSEqh A OPEN/CLOSE button (14)Press to open/close the disc tray.qj Disc tray (14)Press A OPEN/CLOSE to open/close the disc tray.qk MULTI/2CH button (with an LED) (14)Press to select the playback area when the 2 channel +Multi-channel Super Audio CD is loaded.
